Medicare Benefits Made Easy

Medicare is divided into Parts A, B, C and D

Offered by the Federal Government:

Medicare parts A & B together make up Original Medicare. Original Medicare covers much of the medical care you need, but not all of it. Many people with Medicare Parts A & B choose to purchase separate supplemental insurance, often called "Medigap" policies, to cover costs Medicare does not pay.

Hospital Coverage

Medicare Part A

Part A helps cover your care when you're admitted to a hospital or skilled nursing facility. It also helps cover hospice care and home health care.

Doctor's Visits

Medicare Part B

Part B helps cover doctor's visits and outpatient care. It also helps pay for services Part A doesn't cover like some occupational and physical therapy services and some home health care. Part B also covers some preventative services and some medications.

Offered by Insurance and other private companies:

Medicare Advantage

Medicare Part C

Medicare Advantage and Medicare Advantage with Prescription Drug Coverage

Part C plans must cover everything Parts A & B cover. They often include other services. Many Medicare Advantage plans also include prescription drug coverage.

Prescription Benefits

Medicare Part D

Medicare Prescription Drug Plan

Part D prescription drug coverage for people with Medicare. If you wait to enroll in Part D until after you are originally eligible, you may have to pay a premium penalty.
